Remembering Eddie Guerreo
To celebrate the life of my all time favorite wrestler, Eddie Guerrero, who passed away 19 years ago, I painted a portrait of him on the night he became the first professional wrestler of Mexican decent to become the WWE champion. He spent the 1990s wrestling for the WCW as one of there many lucha libre sideshow characters. However, Vince McMahon saw the potential for Eddie to shine as a top of the card wrestler, playing up certain Mexican stereotypes while still positioning Eddie as someone special. He drove to the ring in shiny low rider cars and bragged about lying, cheating, & stealing to win matches. He was a lovable bad guy who eventually became the hero, and he will always be remembered as one of the select top guys to hold the WWE Championship Title. R.I.P., Eddie Guerrero, 1967 - 2005.
